2017 Wedding Trend Predictions

What’s going to be big this year in weddings? Well, we’re always surprised by what our creative couples come up with, but here are some of the things we think are sure-fire bets for 2017:

1. Greenery!

HNYPT6 We were seeing greenery everywhere in our events well before Pantone decided to make it the Color of the Year 2017 – and it’s unlikely this trend is going anywhere soon. Loose greenery wall displays + backdrops, hanging wreaths and vines, and long table garlands are still hot for this wedding season. 2. Intimate Ceremonies Slide07

Just like we told PopSugar, we saw a big uptick in small ceremonies this year, some followed by large receptions – some not. We love the family-only vibe of a small ceremony, it allows you to be more personal and let’s face it – cuts down on some costs if being in the limelight isn’t for you. 3. Couple’s CakesView More: http://brianmosoff.pass.us/brianna-bryan-wedding

A lot of our couples are getting away from traditional cake and serving small desserts, cupcakes or candy for their guests. Everyone still loves a good cake cutting however, so we’ve been seeing small cakes just for the couple to have that moment. 4. Groom Entrances

Who said the bride gets all the fun? With more and more grooms taking a real interest in the wedding planning, some of our grooms have requested their own entrance songs and we’re into it. We’ve also heard of grooms dancing down the aisle, and one even arrived via Jet Ski for his lake side ceremony, now that’s an entrance! 5. Loose Boho Hair + Braids blogtrends2017-1-3

Brides with their hair worn down, or partly down for both ceremony + reception continues to be a big trend. Roughly 80% of our brides wore their hair down this year for a more romantic, relaxed look. Also big: braids, braids and more braids. The two together? Love! Photo: Christine Sara Photography, Design: Harmony Creative Studio, Hair: Hello, Darling! Hair, Dresses: Bride Boutique LA

6. Mixed Metals

Gold made a big come back a few years ago (holla!), and then rose gold came on the scene, followed by copper. I think we’re going to start seeing more and more couples mix metals for the accents of their day, instead of sticking to just one. 7. Hard vs. Soft

The Industrial trend isn’t going anywhere – and since we love so many of our Downtown Warehouse spaces here in Los Angeles, this is great news! What we’re seeing now is a mix of hard metals, angles and textures such as concrete for things like vases, chargers and backdrops – mixed with soft fabric, romantic blooms and lace for the perfect yin and yang. 8. Print Bridesmaid Dresses

First came the mismatched bridal party (still loving this too by the way!). Now say hello to prints – floral, striped, geometric and patterned. We’re predicting even mismatched prints for your ladies. Designers like Show Me Your Mumu, Pretty Plum Sugar, The Reformation, Asos, ModCloth and Donna Morgan are bringing their print game like crazy this year – and so should you.  9. Colorful Fellas

Gone are the days of only black or grey suits for grooms and groomsmen. We’re seeing lots of blue, green, maroon and even brown for our guys this year. Bright and patterned bow ties, socks and suspenders are also showing up everywhere, so let your guy show his true colors! 10. Entertainment Influences

With our main base here in Los Angeles, we’re seeing our couples get really creative with touches from their favorite movies, TV shows, books and games. Everything from Lego escort cards to Cards Against Humanity influenced table numbers, superhero cuff links to ‘Scent of a Woman’ tangos for first dances.
