We just realized that we never got around sharing the photos from last years holiday party, shame on us!! Creative Connection USA is a great group bringing together creative women, and we were honored to work with a great group of ladies to put together this little shindig last year. Photos from Amanda of Jean&Gene Creative and Christine Sara Photography, as marked.
The theme was ‘Whimsical Woods’. We made varying size dioramas under glass which included DIY glitter animals, trees and other fun stuff in fake snow. They blended perfectly with the decor of the house, which was done by the lovely Crystal of Recycled Love Story. So many people asked about them I thought of making some for sale this year, but we’re a little swamped (and that’s a good thing!).
I challenged myself to stay within a small budget, and to make a photo backdrop for under $20. I used simple cut wood from Home Depot and Dollar Store wreaths and snowflakes to make the backdrop, which had to be in small enough pieces to fit into my car for transport, and flexible enough to place anywhere in the space because I was not certain of the layout. I think it turned out nice looking, but here’s a tip: cheap spray-on snow fades after a few hours, so don’t do it a day ahead like I did – wait until just before you want it to be seen before you spray 🙂
We made goodie bags for the attendees, complete with a custom mix CD with upbeat Holiday music, hair ties, candy in DIY drawstring bags and cupcakes from my fave: Yummy Cupcakes. We partnered with the always fab Amanda from Amanda Habbershaw Creative on the papergoods: food tents, name tags, stickers and CD labels – I thought they turned out super cute!
