Cammie + Tom were all set to get married at a Malibu wedding venue, when it unexpectedly announced that it was closing and canceling all 2018 events. Having already planned out nearly everything due to Cammie’s impending Ophthalmology boards, we ended up basically planning two weddings. Luckily for this planner, the couple were such sweethearts and took the change in stride as much as possible.
Knowing they wanted to keep the same date also presented a challenge – as they were set to get married on the number one wedding date of 2018: August 18, or 8-18-18. As luck would have it – my top replacement venue recommendation, the gorgeous Quail Ranch in Simi Valley – had just had a cancelation for that date, and we were able to re-home this wedding without much trouble.
The whole episode turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as Quail Ranch ended up having just the right feel for the romantic, stress-free vibe the couple was going for.
Wanting to keep a garden feel for the ceremony, we were able to work with the lovely property Owner Joanne to mix things up a bit, having the ceremony on the lawn right in front of the house instead of the large patio below – thus keeping the bride’s original vision for her wedding in tact despite the venue change. Foxtail Florals really outdid themselves adding greenery and florals to the rustic chuppah, perfectly adding in the brides’ heirloom crochet talit, the same one her brother and his wife had been married under a year earlier. A duo of live string musicians played throughout the ceremony, which followed a traditional Ketubah signing in the garden patio.
We love Cammie’s bridal style, her dress from Martina Liana fit her like a glove! The illusion neckline perfectly complimented her tousled curls – we love when brides wear their hair down!
The couple currently lives in Portland Oregon, so we added touches of their adopted city in their welcome gifts, signature drinks and floral choices. They area also huge travelers – so each table name was a city or country they have traveled to together, or holds a special place in their heart. Their seating chart also featured a giant custom wood map leading people to these special places.
All their beautiful and delicate paper goods were custom designed by friend Christina Hubbard.
