You guys – my little sister got married!! I was so honored to plan Kendall + Casey’s intimate ceremony + dinner, it was such a special night for our family and friends. My sister was very clear with what she wanted – a dinner party with a little wedding before. No huge party, no dancing, no cake – and she wanted it to feel homey and easy. We found the perfect little restaurant on Melrose, had the ceremony downstairs in front of the fireplace and then dinner upstairs for 35 guests.

I added in personal touches where she would let me get away with it – for instance: when we were younger, our dad would sing our names over the lyrics of songs and make us think they were about us. ‘My Girl’ from The Temptations became ‘Margaux’, and since the UB40 song ‘The way you do the things you do’ was popular when my sister was little, he would sing her name over the word ‘candle’ and make the line instead ‘You got a smile so bright, you know you could have been a Kendall.’ This idea grew into their favors/escort cards which were candles personalized with each guests name – it led to much discussion later in the evening over whose candle smelled the best.

She wore a sapphire blue flower ring that belonged to our grandmother – I wore it at my wedding and technically own it, so it became her something blue, borrowed and old all at the same time. Kendall and Casey were also married by the same Officiant who married my husband and I over 6 years ago – Bob Scheinder.

We couldn’t be happier to have Casey and his family as a part of ours now, and we’ll always have this perfect night to remember – isn’t that what it’s really all about?
